Laser scanning (increasingly known as Reality Capture) has quickly become a popular service in the surveying industry. The ability to rapidly capture millions of accurate 3D points and create a point cloud can have a positive impact on safety and cost. Laser scanning can be utilized on various different types of infrastructure such as construction sites, motorways, railways, structures and buildings.
Multiple scans are commonly aligned and registered together producing a 3D point cloud. The point cloud can provide comprehensive data where complex information is required such as detailed architectural building elevations, tunnel projects, or petrochemical/industrial installations for instance.
Our final deliverables can be issued in a variety of formats or outputs such as 2D drawings, 3D wire frame/rendered models, Revit (BIM), point cloud data, and TruView format or similar.

Concrete & Structural Scanning
Concrete scanning is a non-destructive method of detecting, locating, and mapping concealed objects within solid surfaces. This solution can identify steel reinforcement, cables, conduits, and post tensioning without the need for invasive investigations such as breaking the concrete with trial holes etc. Concrete scanning is particularly beneficial when drilling or coring into concrete, walls, or structures giving the client prior knowledge of elements to avoid.
We can deploy the latest handheld scanners, GPR and detectors, to conduct this service. We can offer real time on site mark-up or post processed results and reporting.
Bathymetric surveys involves the mapping of the underlying bed of hydrographic features such as canals, rivers, and lakes etc. Data capture can be performed by a number of methods which range from manned survey vessels to the latest remote controlled hydrone. All survey vessels operate integrated GPS and sonar systems ensuring high quality data is acquired and delivered.
Once field data has been obtained it can be used to generate depth charts and plans, cross sections, long sections, and bottom profiles of underwater features. Output can be issued in a variety of formats, software, which conform to client technical specifications or the EA's.
Drone Surveys - Visualisation & Verification
Drones or Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) are fast becoming a reliable, cost-effective method of data capture for use in many applications. The rapid development of this technology now makes previously hard to reach environments accessible. Armed with high precision cameras and sensors, drones can record and store data remotely from a position of safety. Together with advances in software development, drones can now be applied to a number of survey based, visulalisation, and verification activities of the built environment.
High quality imagery captured by drones can be processed using photogrammetry software to produce high quality point clouds. This data can then be used to manufacture an array of deliverables such as 2D drawings and 3D models, similar to the laser scanning process.
